On her 18th birthday, headstrong and artistic Charlie makes a startling discovery. Jack, the man who is married to her mother, isn’t her dad. Her real father lives on a remote Scottish island and unbeknownst to her, has been sending her a birthday card every year. Recruiting Oz, a rough sleeper whose only possession is his driving licence, she embarks on an epic road trip to track down her biological father, and discover the truth about herself. On the journey they both learn more than they bargained for – about themselves, each other, the past, the importance of family, and why (sometimes) there really is no place like home.
